Accountant

4170 is looking for an accountant to perform daily General Ledger functions, handle month-end close processes, and support special projects as needed. This individual will report into the Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with the Operations, Risk and Technology functions. This is an in-office role based in Chicago.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of daily journals for trading profit/loss, daily reporting by profit center

• Preparation of daily cash movement, posting of accounting entries

• Monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts, balance sheet, and bank reconciliation

• Monthly preparation of balance sheet and income statement reports

• Support all quarterly and annual reporting requirements for tax

• Preparing and posting intercompany transactions

• Support external audit support and preparation of year end financials

• Assist in the daily reconciliation of trading profit/loss, coordinate with Middle office personnel

• Assist external FinOp/Series 27 with the monthly and quarterly regulatory filings

Qualifications: 

• 3-5 years of staff accounting in Financial services, broker dealer, proprietary trading or hedge fund experience preferred. Consulting experience with Financial Services clients also applicable 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel Skills preferred)

• Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks/Microsoft Dynamic Business Central experience a plus)

• Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills

• The ability to multitask and quickly switch your focus to meet deadlines

• Acute attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels
